That research started to push me towards the £100 plus mark and I was nervous - it might not be much better.
#Add vpn to eero router upgrade
My initial thought was just to upgrade my modem router to a newer better product to get speed and coverage. Coverage is hit & miss in our semi and I have used the TP-Link plug in adaptors to get connections around the place but with WFH and Covid I have looked deeply at changing. I have standard ADSL2 and my modem router is about 8 years old.

I have been looking to either change my modem router or move to mesh or both. I will have to consider whether to refund or not. It does not seem like Eero is not ready for the UK. Is this the way I want my home network to be, not really. Plus sides the app is nice and WiFi did improve around the house. So to use the Eero I need to plug in the modem to old router and then onto the Eero. Basically the old router gets the IP address and then I switch off it’s WiFi and pass the signal over to the Eero. Very sad as I have wanted his device for a long time and was so happy the it had finally got an official UK release.Īfter several emails to Eero and getting through to the much more helpful 2nd line support it turned out that my internet provider (plus net) and the bt openreach modem (likely to be in 50% + of UK homes) did not work with the Eero unless I used the existing router and used Double NAT. It always fails to connect to the internet.Įmailed Eero for support and they replied with steps I had already clearly stated I had already done. Got the device and have spent several hours trying to get it to work. I will have to consider whether to refund or not.Ģ, Easy to set up and control for an app on your phone.
